Vocational Rehabilitation

The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department (VR) prepares and assists eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to achieve and maintain competitive employment.

If you have a disability, Vocational Rehabilitation can help you understand the options available in becoming or staying employed.

Individualized services are provided at offices around the state and may include:

Assessment for eligibility, career exploration, and planning for employment;

Disability management through counseling, therapies, treatments, or assistive devices;

Training to enhance skills using instruction and work experiences in our offices, on worksites, or through educational partnerships;

Job search assistance to help you find competitive employment, and support once you are on the job.

As an employer you can partner with VR to find consumers that have skills, drive, loyalty and dependability you want.Services that VR can assist employers with include:

Planning assistance to meet your needs, including site visits, presentations, training, tours, and community resource referrals;

Recruiting to build a strong, diverse workforce with job task analysis, pre-screening, candidate referral and interview scheduling;

Training using classroom instruction and hands-on projects help our consumers learn the foundational soft skills and industry-specific job skills needed to work for you;

Retention services so that you can retain valuable employees who need help due to a disability that might be jeopardizing their employment.
